Whenever we receive an email containing the word "community" (such as "Community Update" or in this case "Message to the University Community") it's because something bad happened. A few days ago it was to announce that someone had driven his car through the glass windows and into the lobby of one of the large dorm complexes! Less recently it was to announce that a University employee had been convicted for murder, or something like that (!). Today they write informing us that the University water supply is infected with the bacteria that causes Legionnaire's Disease. Wonderful!

At least it makes those announcements easy to flag. You know, if you really want to make sure you read about the latest University Community Member who got infected with Legionnaire's Disease and as a result was convicted of murdering someone by driving their car through a dorm.

Or if you really want to make sure you don't read those. You know, whatever your preference.

(Less snarkily, all that sounds awful.)

That's some pretty scary stuff, Tobin. What are they planning to do about it?

Oooh - Legionella has a type IV secretion system!

Yes, that was my first thought. I'm in lab now. I hope nobody gets sick.

I think it was only in the med school/hospital water. ("only")
